Vacationland R.V. Park Receives Stellar Rating

June 24, 2010

For Immediate Release….Vacationland R.V. Park in Brackley Beach , PEI received a stellar rating this week by Trailer Life Directory (TLD).

TLD rates over 12,000 Good Sam Member Parks in North America. Vacationland received a 10/10*/9.5 rating for a score of 29.5/30.

In 2008, the Park was rated 27.5/30 and was rated as one of the top 300 Parks in North America at that time. Undoubtedly, it will be now be placed much higher after all the Parks have been rated during the completion of the rating season.

Vacationland is a family campground and is operated by the Nicholls Family. Owner /Operator Tom Nicholls “ was extremely pleased with the rating and was very thankful to his loyal staff who work hard and diligently to keep the 35 acre property in immaculate shape. Without tremendous staff, you do not have anything, so I am thankful for those who work for us”.

When asked about how the increase happened, he noted, “ just plain hard work, and attention to detail on a daily basis”. “ From an improvement perspective, since the last rating we have added a state of the art play set for the kids, a second play area, upgraded our interior roads, did a facelift on our registration/store/office area, new signage at the Park, a new website, replaced all of our major components in the operation of our heated pool, and continually trim trees and care for the property.”

In addition, Vacationland has improved its offerings to the camper, providing several things to do on a daily and weekly basis, “ the consumer is looking for more nowadays, they want to be entertained, yet have the experience of the outdoors and camping, so we have been trying to provide a balance of both to our valued customers.”

Nicholls sees the upcoming summer for tourism as a very strong one, “ I am excited about this summer, the kick-off with the new Charlottetown Summerfest, followed by the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, and then having Regis and Kelly here, it is a tremendous boost to the start of the summer. Then book-ending the end of the summer with the new Red Island Bike Run, makes it look to me like an excellent summer ahead for tourism operators.

As for things at Vacationland this year, he noted “ following the heels of Regis and Kelly we will be having a Country Music week-end at the Park on the July 23-24 weekend, then things are always busy through the end of Old home Week. The following weekend, August 27-29, during the newly introduced Red Island Bike Run, the Island Bike Rally in its 27 the year, mostly at Vacationland will have their rally on the same week-end at the Park to coincide with the Run’s initiative. To close out the summer, on Labour day week-end, Vacationland will have its first-ever Bluegrass and Old-Time Country Festival, featuring 6 musical acts.

When asked why Vacationland didn’t get a perfect 30 score on the TLD rating, Nicholls laughed, “ I would have to build a new Park, with the rating system to earn a full 1 point on that one, the layout of your Park cannot have side by side sites, so we will be pleased to be a 29.5 during our years of owning the Park. This is our 11th year of operating the Park, when we took ownership of the Park it was rated in the 7’s, we have put a lot of investment and re-invested into the Park annually to make it what it is today.”
